Laser treatment of acne
Acne – simple pimples (acne vulgaris) – is one of the most common skin diseases, during which pimples occur on face, chest and back areas. Up to 70-90% of teenagers have this disease, but acne becomes more and more common among adults, especially women. Acne can not only leave scars, but also can socially isolate and psychologically affect a person. However, acne treatment (removing the spots with a laser) will help you get back healthy, bright facial skin.
The main reasons that cause acne are increased activity of sebaceous glands, and increased production of fat cells. During puberty, number of sex hormones rapidly increases. Any stress, inner tension and emotional experiences can enhance it even more, and that activates acne. Faty cells, their deposits and dead skin cells clump together and form plugs that clog skin pores, which end up looking like whiteheads or blackheads, hence youthful acne appears. As a result, such conditions allow the bacteria to reproduce, and it causes inflammation and infection of the skin.
Hormonal imbalance, menstrual cycle, pregnancy, oral contraceptives, improper skin care (lack of hygiene, inadequate cosmetic use), and stress may also also provoke acne.
German ASCLEPION MeDioStar NeXT laser is effective in treatments of acne (it is based on clinical evidence), which has inflamation, pus or cystic acne. Infrared radiation emitted by a laser penetrates into the skin deep enough to reach the hair follicles and sebaceous glands. The heat emitted by the laser destroys the colony of Propionbacterium acne (which causes acne). If there are inflammatory rashes or pustules, then laser induced heat disturbs microcirculation and redness reduces. Heat also destroys the bacterial wall proteins, which are in the sebaceous glands, so the laser has an antibacterial effect as well. This way, dual laser beam accelerates healing and reduces the formation of new inflammatory rash.
To achieve a therapeutic effect, the number of treatments should be selected individually. For mild to moderate acne 1-2 treatments are enough. For active phase of inflammatory acne 4-5 treatments are needed.

Acne treatment with a laser is painless. After special gel is applied, laser handle is attached to the skin. The laser emits pulses of 8-14 mm range. The patient feels a light sting during the treatment. Cooling system is built into the laser, so it gives a gentle anesthetic effect, so you should not worry about the pain during the treatment, but it is likely that you will feel a slight tingling or mild pricking.

Depending on the amount of damage – skin redness, swelling and/or sensible heat feeling can appear after the treatment, which disappears within 1 or 2 days. Crusts or vesicles can appear, which can not be manipulated.
You should avoid the sun exposure and intensive sun (solarium) without sunscreen on treated areas for at least 6 weeks. Use sunscreen (not less than SPF 50) if you have to be outdoors.
Avoid using cosmetics on treated area for 24 hours after the treatment.
Cosmetics for washing and cleansing should be gentle and without alcohol. You should also avoid using agents that drie the skin. Extra hydration is necessary for both dry and oily skin types.
Only special cosmetics, which are designed according to the skin problem, should be used.
This treatment is characterized with only few complications:
Sometimes lesions in pigmentation can appear (damaged skin brightens or darkens in the treated areas), but it usually takes a few weeks to several months.
